'how is the princess today?'
you had no idea that this little nickname was mocking your innate sensitivity
and that it went hand in hand with nearly any and every moment that you showed emotion
yet another reason you felt uncomfortable around your own family
because they ridiculed you
for being vulnerable
for being emotional
for being seen
for being you
and it wasn't okay then
and it's still not okay today
and thank god you have found solace in the people who know and love you for you
you are not a princess, you're just a real human being: one that feels, one that falls and scrapes her knees, but ultimately, one that gets back up, on her own, dusts herself off, and wipes away her own tears.
